“Porca Miseria” (means something like “darned” or “damn”) sounds from out of Italy! The organization has decided to completely cancel the 19th stage to Val Martello due to the continuous weather circumstances in the North of Italy. Where in the old days the riders placed an extra newspaper under their shirt and put on some by-their-grandmother knitted legwarmers and jumped on their bikes to face the cold and to heroically battle the competition and the elements of nature , nowadays king Fear rules over Italy and a full stage is being erased from the planning. The riders will be pleased, since they now have an extra rest day and thus enough time to collectively declare that Danilo di Luca is a “stronzo”. Bad news though for us Giro watchers, but of course we don’t want the riders to be forced to climb their bikes with the risk of frozen limbs, slippery descents and hyperthermia, just because we love to see cycling? Well? Or do we…
The 19th stage will take the riders from Ponte di Legno to Val Martello. During this 139 kilometer long ride, they will face three mountains and two intermediate sprints.
